La Cartuja, a Carthusian monastery, stands in a place called Aynadamar; the Sacristy is a masterpiece of the Andalusian Baroque and gathers a good collection of paintings. The memory of Federico García Lorca becomes present in two sceneries: Huerta de San Vicente, in the center of the park dedicated to the poet; and 19 km away from the capital, the house in Fuentevaqueros where Lorca was born on June 5, 1898. The house, faithfully reconstructed, is now a personal museum dedicated to the poet, enlivened with many original objects.

There is an attractive drive from Paseo de la Bomba up to the ski resort of Sierra Nevada, 36 km away from Granada. The peaks of Sierra Nevada, Solair or Mountains of Snow, Veleta and Mulhacén peaks look out upon the lower world, the latter, with 3,448 mt is the highest point in the Iberian Peninsula. The road up is the N-420, the highest in Europe, since its climbs from 680 mt as far as 3,200 mt. When the weather permits, it is possible to reach Capileira, on the other side, that is, on the side that goes downwards to the coast in the area known as the Alpujarras.
