Monastir is famous for its Summer International Festival which is held every summer within the Ribat and offers a variety of international shows in the assorted activities of music, theatre and cinema. This festival was created in 1963. In 2015, it is its 42th edition. It is also at Monastir that is organized in summer the international Festival of the university theater which is there in 2015 at its 16th session, so it was created in 1989. Student theater companies coming from Tunisia and from 11 Arab countries occur during the session 2015 of this festival and take part in the workshops and exchanges of academic experiences in the field of the theater. Finally it is to note that two other festivals are organized in Monastir : The international Festival of the Andalusian music and the international Festival of the plastic arts.
